The model supplied in .177 calibre and were mounted in hard wood stocks. The shape of both wood and syntheticstockslooks identical.
The wood workis neatly done featuring a slightly raised cheekpiece, ventilatedrubberpad, long forend and fluting extending almost up to the forwardstock screws. It’s plain but functional, with good quality wood (that would polish up really well) and a design that – like so many others –is a compromise for use witheither open sights or a scope.
Thebarrelon the R1000 is 17” in length. They featurehigh visibility open sights consisting of a raised ‘fixed’fore sightconsisting of a single red fibre optic style dot and anadjustable rear unitwith two green dots. This rear sight unit can bemoved on its ramp mount toadjust elevation, while a screwdriver isrequired for adjusting windage. Onceset to a desired zero point, thesesights are highly effective, and in truth, they are all that is reallyrequired for budget priced plinking rifles likethese. Nevertheless, many people will want to ‘scope up’, in which case thegenerous lengthof dovetailing on the cylinders will give ample room. Thecylinder endcap will serve a double duty as a ‘recoil stop’, although inactualitythere’s no real recoil to speak of.
